Almost Christmas Number One

When we put together a list of Christmas Number Ones it wasn't that easy. Those that were almost a Christmas Number One, second is sometimes best. There are far more Christmasy or Christmas related songs that made it to Number Two.

We have put to together our Top 5 Christmas Number Twos.

5. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You

It makes the list, not for the video, which isn't the greatest, nor of the fact it was featured in Love Actually. We for some crazy reason, like it. As do the Daily Telegraph who hailed it as the most popular and played Christmas song of the decade. It is also the 13th best selling Christmas song in the UK.

4. The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York

Frequently cited as the best Christmas song of all time in various polls, The Pogues produced an unlikely Christmas hit about a drunk Irish immigrant in a New York Police cell.

3. Wham! - Last Christmas

Is Last Christmas the cheesiest Christmas song of all time? Love it or hate it, Love or hate that 80's haircut. Last Christmas is the largest selling single in UK chart history to not have reached number one.

2. The Darkness - Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)

The Darkness create a great 70's retro Christmas song and you half expect to have an special appearance by Noddy Holder. Unbelievably lost out to a Tears for Fears cover song. Tongue in cheek video. It has all the makings of a Classic Christmas song.

1. Greg Lake - I Believe in Father Christmas

Greg Lake song is one of the great Christmas songs to come out of the 70's. Often critised as an anti-religious song and we all believe in Father Christmas.
