Cologne (Koln) Christmas Market like many in Germany is not one Christmas Market but several. Cologne has seven Christmas markets throughout the town. Cologne offers a very traditional German Christmas Market. The aroma of baked apples, Lebkuchen, cinnamon stars, roasted almonds and Christstollen. As for the Christmas crafts, you will find traditional Räuchermännchen, Nativity figurines, Nutcrackers and other traditional Christmas decorations. For kids there are traditional roundabouts and Santa.

Of the seven Christmas Markets in Cologne the market at Cologne Cathedral, the Angels Market at Neumarkt Square and Home of the Gnomes in the Old Town are well worth a visit.

Christmas Market at the Cologne Cathedral is often voted the most beautiful Christmas market in Europe. Known for it's excellent quality, it is the benchmark for many Christmas Markets. The Times claim it is the 'unchallenged top 1 for the Christmas tourist'. It also attracts over 4 million visitors.

Angles Market (Markt Der Engel) at Neumarkt Square offers angel figurines, solid oak handgesägte stars and large wreaths. Makes this a great place to get traditional German Christmas decorations, of a high quality.

Cologne's Old Town Christmas Market, the Home of the Gnomes, dates back to 1820 and has a great historical tradition. The market has a feeling of bygone Christmases. Popular with locals and tourists a like the Old Town has numerous breweries and beautiful historic guild houses. The market is famous for the Heinzelmännchen, gnomes who like the tale of the Elves and the Shoemaker, worked through the night to finish the work for the inhabitants.
