Helsinki Christmas Market
5 December - 22 December 2013
Helsinki Christmas Market, in the land of Father Christmas, is of course opened by the big man. The main street in Helsinki, Aleksanterinkatu, is an elaborately-decorated street know as Joulukatu, which simply translates as Christmas Street. No Finnish market is complete without food, star pastries filled with plum jam, Rosolli is a salad of herring with beetroot and vegetables and traditional Finnish Christmas ham. The traditional drink is glögi, a spicy hot mulled wine. The city has three main markets the Women's Christmas Fair at Vanha Satama, St Thomas Market at Esplanaadi Park where you will find traditional Finnish Christmas gifts and decorations and the Old Student Hall.
